The Truth of the Matter
While the mystery of the thief has been solved, the Orc's offer of information has complicated matters. He may be the key to understanding the situation in Deepscrave, but his trustworthiness is another question entirely."
Background
The time has come to interrogate the Orc prisoner.
Objective 1
Féli is waiting for you before he starts the interrogation.
- Féli: 'Thank you, <name>. It's unpleasant business, but it helps to have another person who isn't as openly hostile. I have worked with Lord Náin for years and respect him in the utmost, but sometimes his distrust can lead to tricky situations.
- 'Even if we aim to defeat Gorgar, we are woefully unprepared. We need more information before we can act- not just about Gorgar's location, but also those closest to him. And what of the hobgoblins? Where does the power truly lie? I do not know how quickly we'll find these answers. But acting rashly won't get us far, either.
- 'As it stands right now, this Orc- Shúkurz- knows more than we do currently. It would be prudent to give him the benefit of the doubt and proceed cautiously.'
Objective 2
- Listen to the interrogation
You should follow Féli to the interrogation and see what happens.
- Féli says, "Lord Náin has agreed to let me as the questions."
- Féli says, "However, that won't stop him from interjecting."
- Féli says, "I'll do my best to intervene if things get heated."
- Náin the Slakeless says, "Go ahead, Féli."
- Shúkurz says, "I want out- out of Gundabad, out of this entire mess."
- Shúkurz says, "Been stocking up, waiting for the right time."
- Féli says, "Are things really that bad?"
- Shúkurz says, "Worse than bad..."
Objective 3
You should continue interrogating Shúkurz.
- Shúkurz: 'I've been told that ever since Bolg rallied folks to Erebor, things have gone downhill for us. Still, we didn't have outright war for a while; we were just surviving. Suppose you could call it a sort of peace.'
Objective 4
You should continue interrogating Shúkurz.
- Shúkurz: 'But peace never lasts, not for us. Mordor came calling, and Gorgar answered.'
Objective 5
You should talk to the Orc captain.
- Orc Captain: 'You! Quit standing around like a limp worm! Don't you know we're about to go to war?
- 'Fill up the barrels 'round camp with weapons and deliver these orders to soldiers. Make it quick!'
Objective 6
- Fill weapon barrels (0/3)
- Deliver orders to Orc soldiers (0/3)
There are empty weapon barrels and Orc soldiers waiting orders throughout the camp.
You should fill the barrels and deliver orders.
- Soldiers sent off to war (3/3)
Objective 7
- Return to Shúkurz and listen to his story
You should return to Shúkurz and continue listening to his story.
- Shúkurz says, "Gorgar emptied Gundabad, like his father before him."
- Shúkurz says, "I was one of the lucky few who survived that battle at Dale."
- Shúkurz says, "But so was Gorgar. He wouldn't stop bragging about killing the Dwarf-king."
- Shúkurz says, "We knew he was lying."
- Shúkurz says, "And just when you think things can't get any worse..."
Objective 8
You should continue interrogating Shúkurz.
- Shúkurz: 'The end of the war brought trouble. Wasn't long before the hobgoblins came down from the north to overthrown Gorgar and claim Gundabad for themselves.
- 'Course, I don't need to tell you the end of that story, do I?'
Objective 9
You should watch the events before you unfold.
- Orc Guard says, "Watch it! Hobgoblins incoming!"
- Orc Guard says, "We asked Gorgar for reinforcements ages ago. Where're they?"
- Orc Guard says, "Hah! He'd sooner flee from hobgoblins."
- Orc Guard says, "You want Gorgar's generals to drag you out to Dhúrstrok?"
- Orc Guard says, "N-no..."
- Orc Guard says, "Then watch your tongue, before you're executed for being a traitor!"
- Orc Guard says, "Now, less talking, more preparing to kill!"
- Frost-bound Hobgoblin says, "You know the drill! Hand over everything or die. Your choice!"
- Orc Guard says, "Bugger off!"
- Frost-bound Hobgoblin says, "Looks like you've made your choice!"
- Orc Guard says, "Oi--!"
- Orc Guard says, "Hey, you! Help me out! Don't let them win!"
Objective 10
- Defeat the hobgoblin raiders
You should defeat the hobgoblin raiders.
You should continue interrogating Shúkurz.
- Shúkurz: 'Gorgar would leave us to die and his generals would execute us for deserting. Right then I knew. Didn't matter if I was fighting hobgoblins, dwarves, or my own people- if I kept fighting for Gorgar, I'd find myself bleeding out one day.
- 'After we lost the war in Elderslade, I'd hoped for a rebellion but, well... fear is a useful tool for dividing people.'
Objective 11
You should continue interrogating Shúkurz.
- Shúkurz: 'That's why I want to leave. Far as I'm concerned, there's only death left for me if I stay in Gundabad.
- 'I- I mean no harm, honest.'
Objective 12
- Listen to the interrogation
You should continue observing the interrogation.
- Náin the Slakeless says, "Enough of this. You fought at Dale. You heard Gorgar lie and gloat about killing my father."
- Náin the Slakeless says, "There is no honour to be found among your people, Orc."
- Féli says, "My lord, please let me continue. Shúkurz, do you know where Gorgar is?"
- Shúkurz says, "He's at Dhúrstrok with his generals."
- Shúkurz says, "B-but I'm not telling you where Dhúrstrok is until you agree to help me!"
- Náin the Slakeless says, "You're useless then. That makes things easy."
- Féli says, "Lord Náin! He still needs to tell us about the missing smiths."
- Féli says, "If there's a chance of saving them, these claims should be investigated."
- Shúkurz says, "Last I heard from the Quartermaster, the soldiers at Dhúrstrok need more weapons."
- Shúkurz says, "Those dwarves are trapped in Gazat-fark, working on that shipment."
- Féli says, "Thank you for your cooperation."
- Náin the Slakeless says, "<name>, a word."
Objective 13
Náin wishes to speak with you.
- Náin: 'Be wary, my friend, for the Orc speaks poisoned words. What does his kind care for other than destruction and slaughter? I've been faced with many a difficult choice throughout the years, but this situation is simple enough to understand.
- 'Still, I was... wrong to pull out the Black Mattock. The Orc may be luring us into a trap, but Féli is right. If there truly are dwarves to be saved, then we cannot leave them to their fates.'
- Náin: 'Come, let us continue talking.'
